Fave Random Tweet July 10

CressidaMorgan

Just had a tooth extracted and can't stop crying. It was bloody awful

Sometimes Sir Twitalot just has a day and so the Fave Random Tweet is not because of brilliant discourse or insight, but more of "empathy" a word that strikes fear into the conservatives in the US. While "compassionate" was good 8 years ago, "empathy" not so good now.

Sir Twitalot's daughter had a baby molar removed yesterday, after the first dentist messed it up the day before. She had a swollen mouth and was all infected. It was bloody awful indeed.

And so Sir Twitalot faves Cressida's tweet here, my daughter cried a lot, and so did her mother, who was distraught over the first dentist's behavior. The first dentist was neither compassionate, nor empathetic.

Fave Random Tweet July 9

Scruffff

I just went to a book store and every single novel in the fiction section either had a naked man or Nazi symbol on the cover. Uncomfortable.

Sir Twitalot has found yet another Fave Random Tweet of the day from one of the younger Twitelopes out there on the Web Savannah.

Which makes the Sir ask - is this Generation Twit incarnated with better writers, or are the older Twitterati just not giving their all on their tweetles? Or is Sir Twitalot just more connected with the younger folks, without their gray hair and discussions about old TV shows?

I do not know, but I do know that Scruffff here has given us a great 140 or less here.

Sir Twitalot appreciates this tweet because

a) he went to a bookstore

b) he went to the fiction section

c) he noticed the covers had two themes - neither of which is "fictional" really - we have plenty of nude men around - some at Sir Twitalot's gym even think they need to march around the locker room naked, as if on some strange Disneyland Balltopia Ride, going around and around without a towel - and we have had Nazis in real life, and because everything genocidal is new again, we have Neo-Nazis too!

d) he brought in his reaction to these covers. Uncomfortable.

We get a whole story about his looking for a whole story. We can relate. We can laugh.
This tweet is more complete than some films I have seen.

Great job Scruff! May you continue tweeting!

The Moonfruits of Your Labor

Ah viruses. We don't like them 99.9% of the time, but social media marketers constantly hanker and hunger for that big "viral" campaign.

Like crackheads with a scummy, busted pipe they demand, "Gimme gimme gimme that campaign that's all HIV Ebola, Man. Need me a viral!!!!"

And how does that work on Twitter - Well, good and bad. It can work extraordinarily well, because a lot of Twitter is set to be viral. Retweet this, hashmark that, follow me, follow you, ease on down, ease on down the yellow twitterbrick road.

But twitter, because of it's limited bandwidth,
server space, and community and central
policing, has the priority of controlling the
tweetage that flows.

And like the WHO (World Health Organization)
it has a stake in preventing widespread outbreaks
of viruses.

So when MOONFRUIT, a UK company, sought
to expand "brand awareness" by giving away
free Macbooks with a sweepstakes, all you had
to do was put #moonfruit in your tweet, it
became quite the trendy topic!

IT BECAME MORE THAT 2.5% of all TWITTER TRAFFIC.

And then it was off trending topics. Just like that.
Twitter put the trendhammer down.

It seems moonfruit even understood why.

The last thing Twitter needs is to become sick with such "viruses" from viral campaigns.
But at the same time, companies are seeking to connect with customers.
But the social media sites have an obligation to protect their users...

I am sure we will continue to see the adfolks and marketing wizards create new virals that sneak in here and there.

That is part of creativity and fun.

And Twitter and Facebook and others need revenue streams.

Where the balance between the two falls, who knows? But I bet marketers and adfolks won't be happy because they will be paying more for it, and demanding analytics that justify that cash.

Fave Random Tweet July 8

Idahojimmy

i hate weeds ! thanks alot Adam and Eve

Sometimes Sir Twitalot finds a fave random tweet written by someone with thousands of followers, sometimes he lucks out with a guy like idahojimmy who has a handful of people with whom he shares his tweets.

Sir Twitalot loves James from Idaho's above tweet because of the roundabout religious connection between the weeds in his garden to Adam and Eve and how they messed up the Garden of Eden.

That is a helluva logical leap, but why it works perfectly in a Tweet is because IdahoJimmy only has 140 characters to work with, and so he can take that leap and make it work.

The exclamation point makes it happen as well. Exasperation ! Then blame - why not go for the original sinners?

Idahojimmy - darn good tweet, dude!

The only thing Sir Twitalot questions is - did not God create weeds too? I would think they would be in the Garden of Eden as well.

Or is Sir Twitalot just living in his own Private Idaho?

Fave Random Tweet July 7

On the day of the celebration of Michael Jackson's life at Staples Center, Sir Twitalot has found his fave random tweet from compassionate actor and entertainment industry icon

levarburton

Why, today of all days, would Corey Feldman dress up like Michael???

YES A PHOTO OF LEVAR THAT ISN'T FROM STAR TREK OR READING RAINBOW!

The social media today has been nothing but a flurry of prayers, tears, thanks, and sarcasms about Michael and the event. (CNN.com even had a facebook status crawl next to the show!)

So you had to be special and random to get Sir Twitalot to fave your tweet today.

And so it is this one, by Mr. Burton because 1) he was at the event in person, and 2) it was an honest reaction that I think most people would have to seeing Corey Feldman dressed up as such, and 3) it reminds us of the bright eyed, bushy tailed young Corey Feldman (not the older Hollywood casualty) and his innocent friendship with Michael back in the 1980s.

Also, while Levar is not of the Judaic persuasion like Sammy Davis Jr.

Levar did get a certain tone in his query, one that recalls the Jewish holiday of Passover with its repetitive questioning of "Why on this night...., and Why on this night...." For why on this day did Corey Feldman dress up like Michael???

Sir Twitalot believes it has to do with how as a culture are remembering Michael, not as the tragic figure of recent years, but the shining musical star that he was, when the spotlight had not shown his damage in such high relief. And so Corey's fragile child star psyche, caught up in that remembrance, remembered his time before he was happy to make SAG minimum on The Surreal Life on VH1.

Congrats Levar for tweeting our fave of the day!

And for those who worry, I think the children seem much better adjusted than some of the adults around them. Well, I am concerned about Blanket's bug out eyes, but that was on the Staples stage, so we'll cut the kid some slack.
